Reference and Information Section

The Reference and Information Section (RIS) houses the general reference materials which include encyclopedias, dictionaries, atlases, yearbooks, biographical indexes, directories, and bibliographies.

The Section has also special collections, which includes:
  • Asian Development Bank materials composed of DVDs, pamphlets, journals, and guidebooks concerning education, women, poverty, laws and water;
  • Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas collection include reports, monographs, books and journals on banking and finance.
  • Lasalliana Collection includes books and other related materials on St. John Baptist De La Salle, other Lasallian saints and the Christian Brothers schools;
  • Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS) publications such as annual reports, books, journals, paper research series, newsletters and compact discs.
  • Public Relations Society of the Philippines (PRSP) consists of various promotional materials used by multi-companies and corporations.
  • University catalogs are collection of program offerings from different colleges and universities, here and abroad.
  • United Nations Collection contains books, journals, newsletters, brochures published by the United Nations’ programs and funds and its specialized agencies.
RIS handles reference queries and requests for referral letters, visiting researchers, donations, and signing of clearance. The section also provides computers and iPads to access electronic databases subscribed by the library, as well as open access resources. RIS also handles the online reservations of discussion rooms for group/collaborative study.  It also facilitates the users’ education program in the library.  

Objective

The Reference and Information Section aims to support the instructional, information and research need of the university by providing up-to-date general reference resources. It likewise aims to give prompt answer to queries and research assistance. The section also handles education of users through information literacy program.
