AEA-IRC awarded as Outstanding Academic/Research Library by the Philippine Association of Academic/Research Librarians, Inc. (PAARL)




The Aklatang Emilio Aguinaldo – Information Resource Center (AEA-IRC) is the recipient of 2020 Outstanding Academic/Research Library Award by the Philippine Association of Academic/Research Librarians, Inc. The AEA-IRC was recognized for its outstanding contribution to academic and research librarianship through its commitment to research and library cooperation. This is defined by their outstanding leadership in national and regional library development, particularly in the areas of library management, education and training, information and documentation services, sustainability and the preservation of the country’s rich cultural heritage.

The award was given last January 31, 2020 during the Association’s 47TH general assembly, awarding and induction ceremonies at the Ateneo de Manila University in Quezon City.

PAARL is the sole academic and research librarians’ association in the Philippines that advocates for the concern of librarians in the higher educational institutions. It is also responsible for charting the future of academic and research libraries and librarians through information policy development, development of library standards and continuing professional development. Since its establishment in 1973 it has continually provided leadership in the development and growth of library and information services in the country. One of its major activities with the aim of promoting academic and research librarianship is by giving grants award to outstanding academic librarians and libraries in the country.
